This is a dodra site or AKJ ? Dodra is non – Panthic so please if adding anything towards the Jatha – AKJ if tells Sangat – People that they are the same. Ive seen the picture on top of this site. Its from a AKJ Toronto Samagam. Dodra in US/Canada is not Panthic.
No rehit , Pyaar nothing. So daas dee Bentee do not promote anything with Dodra.
You should have done your research first.

    • Dear, “Freedom Fighter”

It is an absolute shame that you feel this way about Dodra sangat and have chosen to look at Avgun’s innit. People like you divide Sikhs into different groups. Yes there is a political side to every jatha including AKJ. Our job is not to get caught up in the politics and take Laha of the Samagam. Learn fro Gurbani. Do your own Khoj. It is not right for you to be doing Nindiya of Dodra Sangat. They are very loving people and have contributed a GREAT deal to the panth! The Samagams held by Dodra sangat are unparalleled by anything in this world. So I’m sorry, but YOU should have done your research first before making such hateful remarks. And please refrain from giving a Fateh to everyone after you have finished hating on a large group of sikhs. It is hypocritical… I recommend you do Ardas in front of Maharaj to bless you with love for all, malice towards none. Dodra Sangat in Dubai has only grown since your comment and will continue to shine bright. I am not pro-Dodra, or pro-AKJ. I’m pro-Kirtan. Wherever you get Kirtan you should go there and stop with this nonsense Chugli.

    Dear Freedom Fighter Ji,

Firstly, I would like to clarify this site is neither Pro-AKJ or Pro-Dodra. This is a Pro-Sikh site. Unfortunately, there are few Singhs like you who are pro-something and try to see things in your own Pro-way.
I am not sure what makes you think about Dodra sangat as anti-panthic. I have been myself to Dodra Sangat programs in India but have not felt anything but Kirtan, Simran, Sewa and Pyaar.
And, Please my intention over here is not to start debate as this is a non-partisan Sikh site. Please correspond to me at my personal ID.

  5. Dear Freedom Fighter Ji,

  15. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,

I am a UK born Gursikh and wishing to visit Dubia. I am very concerned about the food availble, the fact is that I do not eat the so called Halal meat that is prepared in the Islamic way.
I am a however a meat eater and consumer all other meats except beef for some reason. Being british I can’t go without a traditional British breakfast. Can anyone advise me of whether I will be able to eat meat or will I have to turn to a vegiterian – which I find hard to convert to.
Look forward to hear from anyone that can help me. Please reply on rajsingh@japekuk.com

  16. I heard a lot about Dodra sangat,so i went to attend the samgam and was amazed to see such a sangat in Kalyug.Fully devoted , true sikhs.I was overwhelmed to see that the samagm was full of laha and there is no natak baji and politics. Just Namm simram kirtan and lots of Pyaar.

I will try take leaves to attend the full annual samgam from 20th to 30Dec’09.

I recommend all the gursikhs to attend the samgams of Dodra sangat and stop taiking all the nonsense about this truely great Sangat.

I true apoligise fotr having inferior thoughts about this great sangat after hearing from others.

request all the nindaks to just once attend 1 samgam and i bet you will regret saying anything wrong about this sangat and you will to satgur ji to bless you to be part of this sangat

  17. I agree with surinder Singh Dodra sangat is a amazing sangat full of Guru sahibs Kirpa and the Dodra samagams organised at Gurudwara Brahm Bunga Dodra are full of Laha, i have never being to such samagams in my entire life, AKj samagams are also good but these samagams are Top of the world.

  18. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,

Its good to see that there is website which gives updates on wts happening in dubai among the sikhs… i give the credit to the owner of this website who came up with this idea…

i am born and brought up here in dubai… and as i am growing, i can see there is hardly any youngsters who are well aware of what is sikhi (including me)!! we all instead just believe and talk what others know about sikhi is all about… but sometimes this information is not full or it is not properly explained as it is just hear say…

And sometimes there are things in sikhism, in our gurbani which we might be knowing by reading books and extra research etc, but our elders are not ready to listen.. y bcoz we r kids..instead i feel atleast we have done the effort of reading books on sikhism and done research and not like we r saying for the fact of saying after listening to others who also have heard from somewhere else!!

i personally feel that there should be group meetings for kids and for the elders to talk on wt sikhism is all about… every each topic is to be discussed in it… and not only this there should be teachings for kids to learn gurbani, and etc.. i did come across one of the events for kids in dubai on your website, i felt good… was a gr8 effort and would personally want to grow it and not leave it there only!!

and last i apologies if i have by mistake hurt anybodies feeling…but wtever i said is wt i felt!

please let me know if i can help in any task… and do let me know if there is anyone here, can teach gurbani (with translation)!

      • Waheguruji ka Khalsa Waheguruji ki Fateh

I relate with your feelings. I remember when I started in 1983, though there were Sikhs, the community was barely established here. English resources were scant in our small Gurdwara library and in those days there was no such thing as the internet and pcs’ of any kind were barely available. Everyone was busy trying to get established and many Sikhs in our community were not so well educated. Somehow Guruji connected us with what was needed to learn. It takes preseverance, trust and patience when resources are less abundant.

You can easily start a Sikhi educational web board initially started by a few of you and assisted by moderation of an adult or 2 who wish this seva. It would need to be a group effort though requiring research into Gurbani text and other credible resources. Make sure you establish ground rules that allow for open discussion but does not degenerate into something else.

My husband loves to teach about Gursikhi but is a better verbal then written communicator. There are so many ways to connect such as SKYPE if someone is not able to be there in person. Use technology to your advantage. I just finished an online degree using all kinds of technology.

Do you yet have a projector screen, computer and projector so that sangat can at least read and sing Gurbani as it is being sung. That may be something to think about at you set up your new Gurdwara.

Tell us what you would like us to do to help.

I live in California. I am sure that Mehtab Singh remembers me from years past when he first came into Sikhi as ‘Rochak’.

Sometimes that happens that one gets side tracked. It is good that you feel drawn to Sikhi now. I do not know your circumstances but you are at an age that others look up to you especially the young ones. Learn and then teach what you learn. We learn by sharing the Guru’s lessons. The Guru always welcomes whosoever steps across his threshold. Just come in, sit down and listen, get your spiritual fill and see what happens. Talk to Gurusahib privately and ask him for His blessing. You will hear one day an anwer that will surprise you. Do not be hard on yourself. You do not have to compare to anyone. You just need to open your heart to the love of GuruShabad. Take care.

  20. Re: Gurdwara in Jebel Ali
I read that the gurdwara is expected to open by April 2010 in anticipation of Baisakhi. Are you aware whether this deadline will be met? I would like to schedule my next trip to coincide with when this Gurdwara has opened. I’m not certain how up to date the website concerning its construction is.

  21. As per my above comment on your website, i have created a group named “An effort to bring sikhism in UAE!!” on Facebook. its a social networking site and i have created it to get more and more suggestion/ ideas from people leaving in dubai.. have got few suggestions already and would like to invite you and sikhsindubai members to also join this group if they are on facebook and help in growing sikhism in dubai!

i believe this will also help the creator of this website to get more ideas from sikh people leaving in dubai.

please click here to join this group

Its great work tht u’r doing by this site of uniting Sikhs in UAE. I’ve given my details to be put in the Sikh Directory. However, I feel that it will be more beneficial if u cud also include the area of residence & not just emirate, as this will help the Sangat of tht particular area to come together.

  24. Hi there,

I’m planning a short visit to Dubai with family. We’d like to find out if there is a gurdwara in Dubai? We always enjoy checking out gurdwaras in different parts of the world.

    Much appreciated 🙂

    • Hi! Sharon,

As of now there is one Gurudwara in Bur Dubai, opposite Dubai Museum (backside of Mosque). The Gurudwara and Hindu Temple are in same premises.

Other than this there is one make shift Gurudwara in Jebel Ali. It is at the construction site of where new Gururdwara is being built. You can search for Jebel Ali Gurudwara on this website, you will find map and video related to that.

Hope you enjoy your visit to Dubai.

  32. WKWF,

Soon i would be landing in U.A.E for a job contract. My concern is about keeping Kirpan. Are Sikhs allowed to wear Kirpans in public places and in government buildings. What are the Do’s and Dont’s for a practicing Sikh in U.A.E Please let me know ASAP.

  33. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

    Amarjit Singh Ji,

Please do not worry, as such there is no problem for sikhs in UAE. There are many amritdhari sikhs in UAE. If kirpan is worn under shirt, there is no problem.

    UAE Sikhs

  34. WKWF,

Thank-you Ji for answering to my query. I have read the latest world Sikh civil rights report published by “United Sikhs” group which states that Sikhism is a recognized religion in U.A.E by law. Is it correct.

    Thanks once again.

  35. Hi, i am a Amrit Dhari Sikh and planning on coming to Dubai in the near future. Was wondering if there are any issues relating to me wearing my Kirpan. It will obviously be under my clothing but just wanted to check if there are any issues on wearing it in public places.

  36. WKWF,

My question is same as asked above. Is Sikhism a recognized religion as per U.A.E laws. And how many Sikhs are the citizens of U.A.E out of the total population of 50,000 Sikhs living there, i mean how many of them are U.A.E passport holders.

    • Waheguru Ji,

Yes, Sikhism is a recognized religion in UAE. You can easily identify sikhs on the UAE street. No one is UAE passport holder as UAE does not offer citizenship to anyone born outside UAE. We all live here as expats.

I reside in Abu Dhabi and have 2 children (2yrs and 4 yrs old). In my efforts to bring my kids close to their “roots” and have the Punjabi Virsa I would like them to learn Gurmukhi so they can eventually be fluent in communicating in Punjabi as well as reciting paths and Gurbani. Can you please advise if there is anyone (person or institute) here who teaches Punjabi to young children. Your assistance in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks & Regards,

With the blessings of babji…and the esteemed cooperation of the UAE government & the Sikh community here in the UAE- – – the Grand GURDWARA JEBEL ALI HAS OFFICIALLY OPENED w.e.f 18th Jan 2012.

The Akhand Path is going on and as of today 9:30 AM – the first Kirtan was recited…..It was an amazing feeling entering the Gurdwara yesterday and finding it was easy too…

For Dubai residents – – once you are approaching from SZR Interchange #4 – take exit 59 towards Ibn Battutah Mall – take right from first R/A (Go towards Jebel Ali Hospital)…Ibn Batutah Mall and Ibn Batutah Gate Hotel is on the left hand side of this small round about….so after you take right, the road leads to another R/A – from where you have to take left…which will lead you to Jebel Ali Hospital.

After crossing JA Hospital on your right hand side – – turn right and at the moment its a muddy road of about 500m and on your right hand side – – you will see a chuch and behind it is the Gurudwara……

  78. Dhan Guru Nanak Guru Pyario!

My name is Amit Mulchandani. I am studying Masters degree in Montreal Canada. I belong to a Hindu Gursikh family based in Gujarat. Before coming to Canada, I was not aware about Mahapursh Bauji & Guru Nanak’s Pyari Dodra Sangat. Fortunately, Guru Maharaj Ji has blessed me with Keertan & Dodra Sangat here in Montreal. Dodra Sangat is great. We do sangat twice a week (Tuesday & Saturday) & attend Samagams regularly. Sangat gives me so much love that I don’t have words to express. Every time I go in Sangat, I think that how much great that Mahapursh (Bauji) would be since his children (Sangat) are great & filled with love. Moreover, Bauji emphasized on attending Samagams regularly because Samagams are like Power Source/Bettery Charger for us that keeps us always charged. For me, these are the Golden days during which Guru Nanak Sahib bless us with “Amrit Barkha” & tremendous energy, positive vibrations. And by the end of Samagams, we are so much blessed that we don’t want to leave the sangat. We always wait for next samagam- Golden Period”.

So, The People who are doing Nindya about Dodra Sangat, I would say that you go to sangat & you will definitely experience how great the sangat is & how much love is there between Dodra sangat & Guru Maharaj Ji. I also attend AKJ Samagams whenever I get chance & I love that as well.

    Dhan Guru Nanak!

Servant of Guru Sahib & Sangat,
